The Center Director, Sarah H. Ramsey, is a professor of law and a Laura J. and L. Douglas Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence. She teaches courses on children and the law, family law, advanced family law and the family law service-learning program. She is the co-author of the casebook Children and the Law: Doctrine, Policy and Practice and of Children and the Law in a Nutshell. She has published numerous articles on legal and policy issues relating to children, families and stepfamilies that have appeared both in law and social science journals. She is a member of the American Law Institute and the Children and the Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association. She was Chair of the Association of American Law Schools Family and Juvenile Law Section in 2003.
Professor Ramsey has taught at Syracuse since 1983; she was an Associate Dean from 1993-1997 and a visiting professor at Stanford Law School in1990-91. She received her B.A. from Duke University, her M.A. and J.D. from the University of North Carolina and her LL.M. from the University of Michigan.
