Pro Bono Opportunities in Family Law

The Center provides various opportunities for students to engage in service to the community.  Many of these opportunties are "legal" in nature and require the assistance of a student with experience in family law.  The time spent on any of these activities could be counted toward the pro bono recognition that eligible students will receive at graduation.  If you are interested in volunteering for any of the postings listed below, please contact the Center Executive Director, Heidi White McCormick, at hamccorm@law.syr.edu. 


Onondaga County Pro Se Divorce Clinics
1.  Revise a powerpoint presentation for clinic

Vera House (local battered women's shelter)
1. Present a powerpoint on divorce 101 or child custody/support issues to VH clients and staff
2. Work 4 hours per week at VH Family Court Program assisting domestic violence victims with petitions for orders of protection
