The Native American Students at Syracuse and UEncounter Present:

What Does Columbus Really Mean to Indigenous People?
Symposium: Monday, October 10, 2005  4 p.m. Grant Auditorium, College of Law

This panel will discuss the impact of the Columbus legacy on the lives of indigenous peoples from across the hemisphere. Three Native scholars will speak about the devastation of their cultures resulting from the "European invasion", contemporary struggles over land and human rights, the importance of reviving spiritual traditions, and the need to alert the world to the environmental crises threatening the survival of Mother Earth.

Panelists: Professor Lori Quigley (Seneca), Professor Scott Lyons (Leech Lake Ojibwe), and Professor Michael Taylor (Seneca).

Moderator: Professor Robert Odawi Porter (Seneca)
