The purpose of the ABA Legal Opportunity Fund is to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to enroll in law school.

Prospective first-year law students, entering law school in fall 2014, are invited to apply for the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship.  Candidates must have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or better, be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US, and plan to enroll in an ABA-accredited law school in fall 2014.

The ABA Legal Scholarship Fund will award $5,000 of financial assistance annually to each scholarship recipient.  An award made to an entering first-year student may eligible for scholarship renewal for two years, resulting in a $15,000 scholarship.

Scholarship applications are available on the ABA website or from the Outside Scholarship section of the Financial Aid website.  The deadline to apply with the ABA is March 3, 2014.
