Office of Financial Aid

Nikki LaubensteinNikki Laubenstein is the Director of Admissions and has worked in the College of Law Office of Admissions in various capacities since 1999. Prior to joining the College of Law, Ms. Laubenstein worked in the dean’s office of the School of Education. She earned her BA in Psychology from Bowling Green State University, and her MS and CAS in Counseling from Syracuse University.
Ms. Laubenstein enjoys working closely with prospective law students and their families, and helping students to determine if Syracuse Law is the right fit for them. She oversees the coordination of the first year student orientation program, admitted student days, and the law ambassador program. She determines admissions committee application and merit scholarship decisions and assists in the LL.M. recruitment and admissions process. Ms. Laubenstein can be reached at aslauben@law.syr.edu.

Andrew HorsfallAndrew Horsfall is the Associate Director of Admissions and Assistant Director of the LL.M. Program for Foreign Law Graduates.  Mr. Horsfall is a graduate of the College of Law and worked in private practice in Syracuse before joining the University in October 2012.  Prior to law school, he worked in admissions at Syracuse University Abroad.  Mr. Horsfall received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences in 2005.  He will contribute to admissions efforts at the College of Law while focusing on recruitment strategies for the College of Law's LL.M. Dana ShefticDana Nowakowski is the Assistant Director of Admissions at Syracuse University College of Law. Ms. Nowakowski joined the admissions team in October 2009. Prior to her experience with the College of Law, she worked as a Financial Services Advisor at Bryant & Stratton College, as well as an Account Executive with Marriott International Inc. Ms. Nowakowski holds a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Sacred Heart University, and a MS in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University. Ms. Nowakowski enjoys helping prospective students with the admissions process, as well as their transition into law school.  She can be reached at dmnowako@law.syr.edu

Lauren PolakLauren Polak is the Admissions Coordinator at Syracuse University College of Law.  Prior to joining the University in June 2012, Ms. Polak worked in admissions and marketing in both undergraduate and graduate admissions offices.  She is dedicated to assisting students with the admissions process as they pursue their legal education.  Ms. Polak holds a BA in Public Relations from SUNY Oswego and is currently pursuing her MS in Higher Education at Syracuse University.  She manages the processing of admissions applications and the communications plan for all law applicants.  Ms. Polak can be reached at lapolak@law.syr.edu

Dorothy Lee serves as the Admissions Office Assistant, joining the team in 1999. She is responsible for the management of prospective student inquiries and oversees the entry of recruitment and application data. Ms. Lee earned her BS in Mathematics from SUNY Buffalo. Prior to her work in graduate admissions, Ms. Lee worked for Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Offices and for the City Hall Department of Engineering. She is an expert in maintaining the College of Law’s student database, is responsible for weekly reports, and assists in training student workers.

Gina SolizGina Soliz has served as director of financial aid at Syracuse University College of Law since 1999. Active in financial aid for 20 years, she has also worked at Le Moyne College (NY) and Nichols College (MA). Ms. Soliz is a member of the New York State Financial Aid Association, twice elected as an officer of the Executive Council. In 2012, 2009, and 2004 she was presented with service awards for her continuous support to the association. Ms. Soliz regularly serves on statewide, regional, and national conference committees and is a frequent presenter at industry conferences. Ms. Soliz holds a BA in English and an MS in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University. Ms. Soliz is dedicated to helping law students find responsible ways of financing their legal education. She can be reached at gmsoliz@law.syr.edu.

Emily MessineoEmily Zipprich is the Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Syracuse University College of Law, joining the Admissions and Financial Aid team in early 2011.  Ms. Zipprich has worked in Higher Education for a number of years; primarily in Student Services.  She is committed to assisting current and prospective Syracuse University law students with the financial aid process and ultimately helping them feel more confident in managing their financial aid.
