Law! Live @ Lubin Lecture Series 

The College of Law announces its two featured speakers for the Fall 2008 Law! Live @ Lubin Lecture Series in New York City.

September 17, 2008 - Stuart London, Esq., a partner at London & Worth, LLP will engage attendees on the topic of “Justifiable Homicide: A Behind the Scenes Look at High Profile Police Cases”. The firm’s primary client is the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association and they represent police officers in a variety of legal venues. London will reveal patterns in several high profile cases (Anthony Baez, Dantae Johnson, Timothy Stansbury and the Ousmane Zongo cases) that can determine the likelihood of criminal consequences for the officer. Attendees will receive one NYS CLE skills credit for attending this program.

October 15, 2008 - Steven Wechsler, Professor of Law and Member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics has been a valued and distinguished member of the faculty at Syracuse University College for 29 years. His research and publications address various professional responsibility issues. Wechsler’s talk with explore the issues surrounding the Appellate Division’s new advertising and solicitation rules promulgated February 1, 2007 and the New York State Bar Association’s response in issuing 23 new Ethical Considerations in a talk titled, “The New Lawyer Advertising Rules – What Do They Mean and Why Should You Care?”. Attendees will receive one NYS CLE Ethics credit for attendance at this program.

Lectures are held at Syracuse University Lubin House, 11 E. 61st Street, NY and will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. Lectures begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

The series provides a forum for SU alumni and members of the NYC legal community to explore topics of the law that influence the workplace, the marketplace, the nation and the world and how these entities, in turn, significantly impact and shape the law.
