Financial Aid Application Information

2008-2009 Financial Aid Applicants:
To apply for financial aid from the College of Law, all students must submit the 2008-2009
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA),  to the federal processor in January 2008.
The FAFSA Federal School Code for Syracuse University College of Law is 002882.

We strongly encourage students to file the FAFSA on the Web rather than submit a paper FAFSA to the processor. To simplify completion of the FAFSA on the Web, students may print a worksheet in advance. Do not mail the worksheet to the processor, use it only to help prepare filing the FAFSA on the Web.

In addition, some students must also submit the 2008-2009 Syracuse University College of Law Financial Aid application; a signed copy of their 2007 federal tax return, including all schedules and W2's; and a signed copy of their parent's 2006 or 2007 federal tax return, including all schedules and W2's.

The deadline to apply for financial aid for 2008-2009 is February 15, 2008.

Class of 2011 ADMISSIONS Applicants:
Prospective students should not wait for an admission decision to apply for financial aid. The financial aid application process is a separate procedure that should be undertaken simultaneously with the admissions application process. Applicants should not submit financial aid application materials prior to January 1, 2008.

The deadline to apply for financial aid for 2008-2009 is February 15, 2008.

Required Financial Aid Applications:
An applicant's financial need is determined using data from the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the College of Law Financial Aid application, and copies of student and parent signed federal tax returns and W2's.

All applicants 30 years of age or younger, unless they have a dependent other than a spouse, will not be considered for College of Law need-based tuition grants unless their parents complete the parent section of the College of Law Financial Aid Application, even though the applicant may meet the federal criteria to be "self-supporting or independent."

Please note: parental information will only be used to assess eligibility for awarding College of Law need-based tuition grants. All other sources of need-based financial aid will be awarded based on only the applicant's information.

In addition, Academic Scholarships are awarded based on the applicants merit only; financial need is not considered in awarding these scholarships.
