Founded in 2004, the Irish American Law Student Association is a relatively recent addition to the community of student organizations at SUCOL. IALSA’s purpose is threefold: 1) to celebrate and promote Irish culture and heritage; 2) to raise awareness with respect to the need for justice and peace in Northern Ireland; and 3) to strengthen bonds between SUCOL and the local community. In April 2006, IALSA sponsored a major event at the College of Law entitled “Irish Peace Forum: The Way Forward.” Many esteemed guests participated in the highly successful event, including Congressman Jim Walsh, John O’Dowd, MLA (Sinn Fein) and Andrew Pike (British Embassy).
