The Native American Law Students Association acknowledges the need to promote the study and development of Indigenous law and systems of governance.
NALSA’s goals are to: (1) educate the Syracuse University community about legal issues affecting Indigenous nations located within the United States; (2) provide a forum for the discussion of Indigenous legal rights and contemporary issues; (3) encourage interaction with local Indigenous nations; (4) provide a community for law students at the Syracuse University College of Law with interests in Indigenous law or traditional Indigenous governments; (5) create networking opportunities with scholars, alumni, attorneys, and guest speakers within the local, national, and international Indigenous legal field; and (6) work toward the recruitment and retaining of Native American law students.
NALSA is a chapter member of the National Native American Law Students Association (NNALSA) and will participate in National NALSA annual events, including: the Moot Court Competition, the Writing Competition, and the Annual Meeting and Federal Bar Association Indian Law Conference.
